This has been a very hard weekend. When the phone rings either late at night or early in the morning, it usually means bad news. But when my phone rang Friday morning right before my alarm went off, I never could of imagined what it would have brought. It was my mom and she did not have good news, my Uncle Jaret & Aunt Diane (dad's brother and wife) had gone with their Son, Eric and his family, wife LuAnn and 3 of their 5 children to watch their 2nd oldest Daughter play her last 2 college Basketball games. They were going to Powell, Wyo but on the way there, 50 miles out of Lander, Wyo, they hit icy roads and rolled the SVU 3 times. My Uncle Jaret and cousin LuAnn were killed, my Aunt Diane was taken to the hospital, and the others were bruised and battered but O.K. The next morning about 4:30am, came the call to Eric that his mother had passed away. So, the number is up to three and it is devastating. It is shocking and tragic, to have 3 leave our family in a matter of minutes. My heart goes out to Eric, who lost both his parents and his loving wife of almost 25 yrs. Elise, Elizabeth, Elaura, Christopher, Elyssa who lost their mom, she was a fabulous mother, loving, outgoing, friendly etc. the list could go on. The oldest Elise, just got engaged on Valentines Day and the youngest will be 10 in May. Who said to her dad that she only got just about 10 years with her mom. :(
A part of the story that makes you grateful to belong to a worldwide church, is being up in Wyoming and having no one that you know to come and help, was a kind Bishop of Lander, Wyo, he came and took Eric and his children to his house for the night. How wonderful that we can make a call and find someone willing to help us in a time of need.
I am glad that I have the gospel in my life, and know that we will see them again, and that they are truly in a much better place. I love my family!!!
